How it works
Being professional has its rewards
A Professional Mortgage is simply a first time buyer mortgage for people working within certain professions. If you qualify, we'll consider lending you more than we might otherwise; in fact we could lend you up to 5 times your income (or 4.5 times a joint income).
We will also lend you up to 100% of the property value; the usual mortgage maximum is 95%, but we want to help you get an extra rung up the property ladder.

Things you need to consider:
As with any mortgage, you should only borrow an amount that your particular circumstances allow, with payments that you can comfortably afford.
Money might be tight to start with after your purchase so you may want to consider a mortgage that gives you some degree of certainty about how much you pay each month.
Equally you will want to have an eye on the future. Most first time home buyers are moving onto their second property within five years.
Please note that any residential fixed or discount promotional rate we agree with you will revert to our Standard Variable Rate (SVR) after the agreed period. The SVR is our basic rate, and it can go up or down, usually following changes to the Bank of England's Base Rate. Tracker mortgages track the Bank of England Base Rate (BBR) which means that your rate may move up or down. Most of these mortgages track BBR + 1.75%, with many featuring a promotional discount period for several years at the start of your mortgage. Others track BBR plus a set percentage for the term of the mortgage.
