What you need to know up front

  • You have to be at least 18.
  • Your parent or relative has to be under 60 at application and employed.
  • You can put the title to the property in just your name and in your parent's name as well.
  • The maximum mortgage term is 35 years or the normal retirement age of the child buying the property, whichever is sooner.
  • It's not restricted to first time buyers. You can also be divorced, separated borrowers or moving to a more expensive area.
  • If you're borrowing more than 95% of the purchase price, your parent must own their home outright or have had a mortgage for three years.
  • You don't have to take out life cover but we recommend you take financial advice.
  • It's not available in Northern Ireland. Sorry.
